The living costs in Huelva is cheaper than in Austria. To give you some examples, I paid 100 € less for my rent than I do in Graz and also the public transport in the city is much cheaper. Also the fruits and vegetables are more affordable than in my home town. Furthermore, for a coffee and a beer you pay around 1 Euro and for a Tapas around 2,50 Euro.
In Huelva you can find a lot of nice bars and restaurants. Additionally, there are a lot of gyms and swimming pools if one wants to do some exercise. I went to a gym, which is called “Atlantico”. There I paid 25 Euro monthly.
Near Huelva you can find three beaches: Punta Umbria, El Portil and Mazagon. To Punta Umbria and El Portil it will take you around 20 minutes with the bus and to Mazagon 40 minutes. The bus ride is 1,55€ one way. However, you can get a bus card, which cost 0,50 Cents and with it you only pay 1,05 Euro to go to the beaches.
Due to Huelva’s good location, you can travel around a lot. I visited a lot of places in Andalucía, Portugal, Canary Islands and Morocco. And I really enjoyed seeing all these nice places and I enjoyed every trip I have done.
I really liked my semester in Huelva as I got in contact with so many people from all over the world. I have learned a lot about the different cultures, food habits and attitudes. I highly recommend to everybody to take a semester abroad, as you learn so many things for your life.
